Tuesday Overnights: ‘America’s Got Talent’ on NBC Remains the Show to Beat this Summer

Ratings Breakdown:
NBC stood well above the Tuesday competition thanks to the season premiere of summer favorite “America’s Got Talent,” which topped the night at a 6.6 rating/11 share in the overnight households from 8-10 p.m. ET. Comparably, this was 11 percent below the year-ago season opener (7.4/13 on 5/29/18).

In series premiere news, NBC singing competition “Songland” opened with a dominant 3.9/ 7 in households at 10 p.m., which was 13 percent below year-ago time period occupant “World of Dance” (4.6/ 8). Comparably, “Songland” bested competing “Blood & Treasure” on CBS (#2: 3.2/ 6) and “1969” on ABC (#3: 1.9/ 4) by 22 percent and 105 percent, respectively.

Elsewhere, Fox populated the evening with two episodes of “MasterChef Junior,” which averaged a modest 2.0/ 3 from 8-10 p.m. And the only other original program last night was CW drama “The 100” at a 0.6/ 1 at 9 p.m.
