Ratings Breakdown:
CBS scored a clean Tuesday household overnight sweep care of “NCIS” (#1 for the night: 8.6 rating/14 share at 8 p.m.), freshman “FBI” (6.3/10 at 9 p.m.) and “NCIS: New Orleans” (4.8/ 9 at 10 p.m.). But “This Is Us” (#2: 5.5/ 9 at 9 p.m.), which increased by 41 percent from “Ellen’s Game of Games” (#2: 3.9/ 9 at 8 p.m.), should be enough to lead NBC to victory in adults 18-49.

“New Amsterdam” capped off the night for NBC with a second-place 4.1/ 7, which was 52 percent above competing “The Rookie” on ABC (#3: 2.7/ 5).

Earlier in the evening on ABC, “American Housewife,” now the Tuesday 8 p.m. anchor, scored a 3.1/ 5 (#3), which is notably below recent time period occupant “The Conners.” And that has had a detrimental impact on lead-out “The Kids Are Alright” (#3: 2.4/ 4 at 8:30 p.m.).

Also on ABC was critically acclaimed “blackish” (#3: 2.4/ 4 at 9 p.m.) and waiting-to-be canceled “Splitting Up Together” (#3: 1.9/ 3 at 9:30 p.m.). Fox and The CW, meanwhile, were at typical Tuesday overnight levels as follows:
