Ratings Breakdown:
CBS topped the Tuesday household overnights, besting No. 2 NBC by three-tenths of a rating point. But NBC is a lock for victory in coveted adults 18-49.

In week two news, both “FBI” on CBS and “New Amsterdam” on NBC suffered typical overnight erosion, and both remain positive. “FBI” from Dick Wolf scored a second-place 6.3 rating/10 share in the household overnights in the 9 p.m. hour, which was six percent below the 6.7/11 one week earlier. Former time period occupant “Bull” scored a 7.0/11 on the year-ago evening, and the household retention for “FBI” out of lead-in “NCIS” (#1 for the night: 8.1/13 from 8-9 p.m.) was acceptable at 78 percent.

Medical drama “New “Amsterdam” slipped to a 5.3/ 9 in the 10 p.m. hour, which was 10 percent below its week-ago debut (5.9/11 on Sept. 28). Comparably, this was a marked improvement from the 3.2/ 6 for year-ago time period occupant “Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Brothers,” and the overnight household retention out of lead-in “This Is Us” (#1: 6.7/11 from 9-10 p.m.) was respectable at 79 percent.

Additionally, “New Amsterdam” tied “NCIS: New Orleans” on CBS in the hour, and will easily dominate the time period in adults 18-49 (and all the young demo groups). The moral of the story: Expect full season episode orders for both “FBI” and “New Amsterdam.”

Earlier in the evening on NBC was “The Voice” (#2: 6.6/11), which bested the first half of a two-hour edition of ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars” (#3: 4.7/ 8) by 40 percent. Overall, this Tuesday edition of “Dancing With the Stars” averaged a 4.6/ 7 from 8-10 p.m., and it led into a 2.1/ 4 for an encore telecast of the pilot episode of “A Million Little Things” at 10 p.m.

Elsewhere, “Lethal Weapon” on Fox (#4: 2.4/ 4) increased from relocated “The Gifted” (#4: 1.7/ 3 at 8 p.m.) by 36 percent. “The Gifted,” which owes its second season renewal to social media, is not resonating on Tuesday, no doubt. And The CW featured the series finale of drama “The Outpost” (#5: 0.5/ 1 at 9 p.m.) out of an also 0.5/ 1 for a repeat of “The Flash” at 8 p.m. Nest Tuesday will feature the season opening episodes of “The Flash” and sophomore “Black Lightning.”
