-Ratings Breakdown:
The 3 to 1 victory for the Los Angeles Dodgers over the Houston Astros in game one of the “World Series” led Fox to Tuesday overnight victory, as expected. The game averaged an estimated 9.9 rating/16 share (telecast from 7:39-10:40 p.m. ET but rating from 8-10 p.m. ET). Comparably, however, this was a steep 23 percent below the game one match-up between the Chicago Cubs and Cleveland Indians (12.8/20 on 10/25/16). Regardless, Fox is still, of course, hoping for a seven game series.

Despite facing “The World Series,” it was overnight business as usual elsewhere. CBS’ combination of “NCIS” (#1 entertainment telecast of the evening: 8.7/14), sophomore “Bull” (#3: 6.9/11) and “NCIS: New Orleans” (#2: 6.2/10) remained rock solid, as did NBC’s pairing of “The Voice” (#3: 6.2/10) and “This Is Us” (#2: 7.2/11) in the Tuesday 8-10 p.m. block. But “Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Brothers” dropped the ball at 10 p.m., with a modest 3.1/ 6 (#3). Comparably, this was 31 percent below the 4.5/ 8 for former time period occupant “Chicago Fire” on the year-ago evening.

Elsewhere, freshman drama “Kevin (Probably) Saves the World” on ABC at 10 p.m. remained an improvement over year-ago time period occupant “Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD.” But a 2.1/ 4 in the household overnights keeps it in the distant last place position. Newbie sitcom lead-in “The Mayor” is also a disappointment, with a 2.1/ 3 at 9:30 p.m. only equal to year-ago time period occupant “The Real O’Neals.”

Earlier in the evening on ABC were sitcoms “The Middle” (#3: 3.8/ 6 at 8 p.m.), “Fresh Off the Boat” (#4: 2.6/ 4 at 8:30 p.m.) and relocated ‘black-ish” (#4: 2.9/ 5 at 9 p.m.) all at typical overnight levels. Naturally, ABC would probably want to keep “The Middle” going beyond this final ninth season.

The CW capped off the evening with its highest rated series, “The Flash” (#5: 1.9/ 3) and relocated “D.C.’s Legends of Tomorrow” (#5: 1.1/ 2), which was a vast improvement over former failed time period occupant “No Tomorrow” one year earlier (0.5/ 1 on 10/25/16).
