Tuesday Overnights: Modest Week 2 Results for NBC’s ‘The Village’ and Fox’s ‘Mental Samurai’

Ratings Breakdown:
It was a clean Tuesday household sweep for CBS care of “NCIS” (#1 for the night: 8.1 rating/14 share at 8 p.m.), “FBI” (6.3/11 at 9 p.m.) and “NCIS: New Orleans” (5.0/ 9 at 10 p.m.). And NBC’s “This Is Us” (#2: 5.9/10 at 9 p.m.), which concludes this current third season next Tuesday, is the show that will top the evening in adults 18-49.

Unfortunately, the lead-in support from “This Is Us” was wasted on new drama “The Village,” which in week two dropped by 16 percent from its already disappointing week-ago opener (3.7/ 7 to 3.1/ 6). Comparably, “The Village” ranked third in the Tuesday 10 p.m. hour, trailing competing “NCIS: New Orleans” on CBS (5.0/ 9) and “The Rookie” on ABC (3.3/ 6) by 38 percent and 6 percent, respectively. And it was 21 percent below the 3.9/ 7 for year-ago time period occupant “Chicago Med.”

Also in week two was Fox game show “Mental Samurai” at a fourth-place 1.5/ 3 in the household overnights at 9 p.m., which was 17 percent below the modest 1.8/ 3 opener last week and 32 percent below lead-in “MasterChef Junior” (#4: 2.2/ 4 at 8 p.m.).

Elsewhere, “Ellen’s Game of Games” on NBC ranked second in the 8 p.m. hour with a 3.4/ 6 in households. And ABC and The CW fared as follows:
