Tuesday Overnights: Positive Return for ‘The World of Dance’ on NBC

Ratings Breakdown:
CBS scored another clean Tuesday household overnight sweep care of its combination of “NCIS” (#1 for the night: 7.8 rating/13 share at 8 p.m.), “FBI” (6.4/11 at 9 p.m.) and “NCIS: New Orleans” (4.9/ 9 at 10 p.m.). But the return of “The Voice” to the Tuesday 8 p.m. anchor position (#2: 7.1/12) should easily lead the network to victory in adults 18-49. Comparably, “The Voice” was six percent above the prior cycle’s opener in the time period in households.

In season premiere news, a two-hour installment of NBC’s “World of Dance” was on the overnight map with a 4.3/ 8 in households from 9-11 p.m. This should easily dominate the block in adults 18-49. “World of Dance” debuts in its regularly scheduled Sunday 8-10 p.m. block this weekend.

In season (or series finale) news, Fox’s pairing of dramas “Lethal Weapon” (#4: 2.3/ 4 at 8 p.m.) and “The Gifted” (#4: 1.3/ 2 at 9 p.m.) ended their seasons with a whimper.

Elsewhere, ABC’s creatively worth “The Kids Are Alight” (#3: 2.3/ 4 at 8:30 p.m.) remained on the downside without its former “The Conners” leadin. “American Housewife,” now in the Tuesday 8 p.m. half-hour, could only muster a 3.2/ 5 (#3). And that negatively impacted comedies “black-ish” (#3: 2.4/ 4) and sophomore “Splitting Up Together” (#3: 2.0/ 3) from 9-10 p.m.

At 10, “NCIS: New Orleans” topped the time period with a 4.9/ 9 in households, which was 63 percent above freshman “The Rookie” on ABC (#3: 3.0/ 5). At 9 p.m. on the Eye net was freshman “FBI” at a dominant 6.4/11.

On The CW, recent entry “Roswell, New Mexico” scored a 0.7/ 1 in the household overnights at 9 p.m. (out of a 0.5/ 1 for an encore of “The Flash” at 8 p.m.).
