Tuesday Overnights: Respectable Return for ‘The 100’ on The CW

Ratings Breakdown:
Despite airing all repeats, CBS still managed to tie NBC for first in the household overnights on this fourth Tuesday in April. But the home of “The Voice” (#1 for the night: 5.7 rating/10 share from 8-9 p.m.) should have no trouble winning the evening in adults 18-49 (and all the key young adult demo groups).

“The Voice” led into a typically modest 2.8/ 4 (#3) for recent drama entry “Rise” in the 9 p.m. hour, which certainly does not compare to recent entry “This Is Us.” But “Chicago Med” increased to a dominant 4.1/ 7 at 10 p.m., which bested an encore telecast of competing “Bull” on CBS (#2: 3.5/ 6) and a Tuesday 10 p.m. edition of ABC drama “Deception” (#3: 2.1/ 4) by 17 percent and 95 percent, respectively. Chances of a second season for “Deception” are highly unlikely.

Earlier in the evening on ABC were four consecutive encore telecasts of sitcom “Roseanne” at an average 4.2/ 7 in the household overnights from 8-10 p.m. ET, which is better than the original overnight performances for most ABC comedies.

In season premiere news was CW drama “The 100” (#5: 1.0/ 2 at 9 p.m.), which was 43 percent above year-ago time period occupant “iZombie” (0.7/ 1 on 4/25/17). Comparably, the retention for “The 100” out of lead-in “The Flash” (#5: 1.4/ 2 at 8 p.m.) was also respectable at 71 percent.

Fox, meanwhile, had nothing unusual to report with its line-up of “Lethal Weapon” (#4: 3.1/ 5 at 8 p.m.) and comedies “LA to Vegas” (#4: 1.5/ 2 at 9 p.m.) and “New Girl” (#4: 1.2/ 2 at 9:30 p.m.).
