Tuesday Overnights: Respectable Sampling for CBS Drama ‘Blood & Treasure’

Ratings Breakdown:
Airing out of the season finale of “NCIS” (#1 for the night: 7.9 rating/14 share in the household overnights at 8 p.m.), new CBS action/adventure drama “Blood & Treasure” was sampled at a 3.9/ 7 from 9-11 p.m. While the two-hour opener did slide in each half-hour, ultimately dropping by 28 percent from the 9 p.m. (4.6/ 8) to 10:30 p.m. (3.3/ 6) half-hours, the key observation was sampling. Let’s see what happens next week when “Blood & Treasure” in the Tuesday 10 p.m. hour follows back-to-back repeats of “NCIS.” It will certainly come down, but by how much?

In season-finale news, NBC’s “The Voice” rose to a five-week high with a 5.1/ 9 in the household overnights from 9-11 p.m. Comparably, that was seven percent below the year-ago season-ender and it built from the season (or series) finale of relationship drama “The Village” (#2: 3.4/ 6) by 50 percent. NBC has yet to confirm the future of “The Village,” which I personally do think deserves a second season.

Also concluding for the season were ABC sitcoms “American Housewife” (#3: 2.8/ 5 at 8 p.m.), “black-ish” (#3: 2.2/ 4 at 9 p.m.) and “Bless This Mess” (#3: 2.0/ 3 at 9:30 p.m.). Freshman alphabet net comedy “The Kids Are Alright” ended its run with a 2.1/ 4 (#4) at 8:30 p.m. Fox, meanwhile, has not made a decision on the future of game show “Mental Samurai” (#3: 2.1/ 4 at 9 p.m.).
