-Percent Change from the Year-Ago Evening:

ABC: +24, NBC: + 6, CBS: – 2, ABC: -15, CW: -37

Ratings Breakdown:
With CBS in repeats, NBC led in the Tuesday overnights and it did so without “This Is Us.” “The Voice” topped the 8 p.m. ET hour, with a 7.2 rating/12 share in the household overnights, which was consistent from the year-ago evening.

In time period premiere news, NBC drama “Rise” stepped in for “This Is Us” at 9 p.m. and scored a respectable (and second place) 3.8/ 7 from 9-10 p.m. While this was 51 percent below the 7.8/12 for the season-finale of “This Is Us” one week earlier, “Rise” was also on par with its debut out of “This Is Us” at 10 p.m. last week. And it was 27 percent above two episodes of sitcom “Trial & Error” on the year-ago evening (3.0/ 5 on 3/21/17).

At 10 p.m. on NBC was “Chicago Med” at a dominant 4.6/ 8, which bested a repeat of “Bull” on CBS (#2: 3.7/ 7) and episode two of Shonda Rhimes legal drama “For the People” (#3: 2.0/ 4) by 24 percent and 130 percent, respectively. Comparably, “For the People” slipped by 13 percent from its already anemic opening one week earlier (2.3/ 4 on March 13), which translated into just 3.22 million viewers and a 0.8 rating/3 share in adults 18-49 (based on the Live+Same Day data). And it was no improvement over failed year-ago time period occupant “People Icons.”

In season finale news was ABC sitcom “Fresh off the Boat” (#3: 2.5/ 4 at 8:30 p.m.), which slipped from soon-to-conclude lead-in “The Middle” (#3: 4.0/ 7 at 8 p.m.) by 37 percent. Next week, the revival of “Roseanne” debuts with a one-hour installment beginning at 8 p.m. ET.

Also on the alphabet was comedy “blackish” at a third-place 3.0/ 5 at 9 p.m., followed by an encore telecast of “Modern Family” at a 2.2/ 4 (#3) at 9:30 p.m.

Earlier in the evening on CBS were back-to-back repeats of “NCIS” at a 5.2/ 9 (#2) in the 8 p.m. hour and a 4.8/ 8 (#1) in the 9 p.m. hour.

Elsewhere, Fox populated this third Tuesday in March with an encore of “Lethal Weapon” (#4: 1.7/ 3 at 8 p.m.) into 9-10 p.m. sitcoms “LA to Vegas” (#4: 1.7/ 3) and sophomore ‘The Mick”(#4: 1.6/ 3). And The CW featured a repeat of “The Flash” (#5: 0.7/ 1 at 8 p.m.) into recent entry “Black Lightning” (#5: 1.3/ 2 at 9 p.m.), which built by 86 percent.
