Tuesday Overnights: Sluggish Opening for ABC Documentary Series ‘1969’

Ratings Breakdown:
NBC’s revamped Tuesday had positive results, with now 8 p.m. occupant “The Village” on the overnight map with a 3.1 rating/5 share in households. Comparably, and without the lead-in support from “The Voice,” this was a three percent increase week-to-week. Now at 9 p.m., “The Voice” (#1t: 4.5/ 8) built by a considerable 45 percent from “The Village.” But that 4.5 overnight household rating was 12 percent below the 5.1 in the Tuesday 8 p.m. hour one week earlier.

With stronger lead-in support, freshman medical drama “New Amsterdam” rose to a 3.8/ 7 at 10 p.m., which was its highest overnight rating since March 15. Comparably, “New Amsterdam” bested the series premiere of ABC documentary series “!969” (#3: 2.4/ 4) by 58 percent. “1969” features interviews with people involved in the 1969 moon landing.

Tops in the 10 p.m. hour was just renewed “NCIS: New Orleans” on CBS, with a 4.6/ 9 in the household overnights.

In week two news, ABC sitcom “Bless This Mess” dropped by 13 percent week to week with a third-place 2.7/ 5 at 9:30 p.m. But this was one-tenth of a rating point (or four percent) above lead-in “black-ish” (#3: 2.6/ 4 at 9 p.m.) and a notable improvement over recent time period occupant “Splitting Up Together.”

Elsewhere, CBS featured two repeat episodes of “NCIS” from 8-10 p.m. And Fox and The CW were at typical Tuesday overnight levels as follows:
