Tuesday Ratings: Slight Uptick for ‘The Bachelorette’ with Season Ender on ABC

Tuesday, December 21, 2021
Final National Ratings

Due to recent COVID-19-related postponements, the rare Tuesday night scheduling of NFL action provided Fox an easy prime time victory. Approximately 70 percent of the county saw the Philadelphia Eagles’ 27-17 over their NFC East division rival Washington Football Team. The Seattle Seahawks-Los Angeles Rams matchup (in which the Rams emerged victorious 20-10) was available to the remaining 30 percent.

Some positives for ABC’s “The Bachelorette” which aired its 18th season finale on the night: it was the cycle’s most-watched episode and delivered its highest adults 18-49 performance since its season premiere. Overall, its entire season’s 0.65 adults 18-49 rating average tops all of the network’s scripted series offerings this fall, including the long-running “Grey’s Anatomy”. Nonetheless, the Michelle Young-led edition (also averaging 2.89 million total viewers, according to live plus same day data) was off by 21 percent (in demo) and by 29 percent (in total audience) from this past summer’s Katie Thurston “Bachelorette” cycle.

“Bachelorette” season 18 contestant Clayton Echard will star in season 26 of “The Bachelor” beginning Jan. 3.
