Update (1:11 p.m.): Idol Jumps 27 Percent to Rank as Sunday’s Top Show and the Week’s #1 Unscripted Series in Adults 18-49

American Idol (8-10:01 pm – 8.7 million and 1.9 rating in AD18-49): Based on Nielsen’s special-ordered Fast National Ratings, ABC’s first-ever Live American Idol adjusted up to 8.7 million viewers and a 1.9/7 in Adults 18-49 (from a preliminary 8.0 million and 1.8/7) to stand as Sunday’s #1 show with young adults.

· Outdelivering both editions of NBC’s The Voice on Monday (1.5/6) and Tuesday (1.6/7), as well as CBS’ Survivor on Wednesday (1.6/7), ABC’s American Idol-SUN (1.9 rating) finished as the week’s #1 unscripted series in Adults 18-49.

· From 8-10pm, ABC’s American Idol won its 2-hour slot and grew by double digits for the 2nd week in row with Total Viewers (+16% – 8.7 million vs. 7.5 million) and Adults 18-49 (+27% – 1.9 rating vs. 1.5/6), hitting best since premiere numbers on the night – since 3/11/18.

· For its 8th straight Sunday broadcast, Idol improved its 2-hour time period by enormous margins, topping the same night last year with Once Upon a Time and Match Game by 172% in Total Viewers (8.7 million vs. 3.2 million) and by 111% in Adults 18-49 (1.9 rating vs. 0.9/3). On average season to date, American Idol is producing ABC’s best numbers in the 2-hour time period in 4 years with Total Viewers and in 3 years with Adults 18-49 – since the comparable 8 weeks of 2014 and 2015, respectively.
