‘The Waltons’ Star Ronnie Claire Edwards Dies at 83

Edwards Joined the Cast of 'The Waltons' in Season Three

Ronnie Claire Edwards, who is remembered for her portrayal of Corabeth Walton Godsey on CBS family drama “The Waltons” passed away in her sleep last night. She was 83. The news broke on her Facebook page.

Born on Feb. 9, 1933 in Oklahoma City, Edwards joined the cast of “The Waltons” in the third season and remained an integral presence through the nine seasons (and six reunion movies). Following “The Waltons,” she had regularly scheduled roles in three short-lived series: NBC drama “Boone” in 1983-84, NBC sitcom “Sara” in 1985, and ABC sitcom “Just in Time” in 1988. She also guest-starred in series like “Falcon Crest,” “Crazy Like a Fox,” “Dynasty,” “Star Trek: The Next Generation” and “Designing Women.” And she appeared on the big screen in “The Dead Pool” in 1988 and “8 Seconds” in 1993.

Edwards was also the author of 2000 biography, “The Knife Thrower’s Assistant: Memoirs of a Human Target.” Most recently, she was residing in a converted church in Dallas.
