Favorites to Win!

Gonzaga Bulldogs are aiming for redemption after getting blown out of the national championship game in 2021 to defending national champion The Baylor Bears representing University in Waco, Texas.

NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship

For the first time in 2022, the women’s field will also host a First Four as the field expands to 68 teams just like the men’s side. Wichita State University will serve as the host for the event, which will take place at INTRUST Bank Arena, in partnership with Visit Wichita, Sedgwick County and the City of Wichita. The 2022 Women’s NCAA Tournament gets underway on March 16 when the First Four games begin. Yes, Stanford will officially begin defending their 2021 national title. Despite Stanford winning last season, they are not the favorite this time around.

What to expect!

It is March, after all, and the madness is here. Every NCAA Tournament produces upsets. Last year, basketball fans saw a number of upsets in the early rounds, as nine teams seeded 10th or lower made it to the second round. It has been a long time since basketball fans have seen Baylor at full capacity, and unfortunately, we technically will not again this year due to Tchamwa Tchatchoua’s injury. It also has been more than a decade since Duke ranked in the top 50 nationally in defensive turnover percentage, therefore the lack of turnovers forced is somewhat to be expected, although the team’s current ranking is the program’s worst since 1997.

Gonzaga is the heavy favorite this season. Duke might be the most talked about team this season, mainly because it is the last year for historic coach Mike Krzyzewski. This year tournament could turn out to be the time for the Bulldogs to shine; maybe, they will not fall short in the NCAA Tournament. We will just have to wait and see what happens.
