Wednesday Final Nationals: ‘Survivor’ Tops Timeslot Despite its Least-Watched Season Premiere Yet

Like last Wednesday, it was a multi-network share of bragging rights on this Wednesday night but it was CBS (not NBC) who were top dog among total viewers (6.96 million). The Eye network was led by the 32nd season premiere of “Survivor” entitled “Survivor: Kaoh Rong.” As positives, it was television’s most-watched telecast from 8-9:30 p.m. and it outdrew Fox’s “American Idol” head-to-head in the 8-9 p.m. hour in total viewers (8.47 million vs. 8.21 million).

But as negatives for “Survivor”, “American Idol” won 8-9 p.m. among adults 18-49 (2.0 rating vs. ~1.95) and it drew the least watched season premiere to-date in its 16+ year series run.

As for the aforementioned Fox, the network won among adults 18-34 (1.1 rating/5 share) and adults 25-54 (2.2/6) as well as tying ABC for the lead among adults 18-49 with a 1.6 rating, although ABC won the edge over Fox in adults 18-49 share (5.5 vs. 5.4).
