Wednesday Overnights: Ample Tune-In for the First 2020 Democratic Candidates Debate on NBC

Ratings Breakdown:
Keeping in mind that results for any live event are approximate, the first 2020 Democratic Candidates Debate on NBC scored a very dominant 7.0 rating/13 share in the household overnights from 9-11 p.m. This does not include the simultaneous coverage on MSNBC and Telemundo. The peak half hour was 9:30 p.m., with a 7.1/13.

The second Democratic Debate airs this evening.

Opposite the Democratic Debate on CBS was the two-hour season finale of veteran “The Amazing Race” at a distant 2.7/ 5. Comparably, that was 12 percent below lead-in “Big Brother” (3.2/ 6), which won the 8 p.m. hour. “The Amazing Race” will return for its next edition at an undisclosed time on CBS next season.

Elsewhere, “Press Your Luck” on ABC (#2: 2,9/ 5 at 8 p.m.) remains the highest rated of its Wednesday night game show trio. Fox’s pairing of “MasterChef” (#4: 2.2/ 4 at 8 p.m.) and “First Responders Live” (#4: 1.6/ 3 at 9 p.m.) remained uneventful. And soon-to-conclude “Jane the Virgin” on The CW scored a typically modest 0.6/ 1 in households at 9 p.m. The remainder of the evening was encore telecasts as follows:
