Wednesday Overnights: Another Night of Dominance for Canceled ‘Code Black’ on CBS

Ratings Breakdown:
The ongoing success of canceled CBS medical drama “Code Black” is the story on the broadcast networks this summer, which should warrant a fourth season pick-up. “Code Black” topped the overnight charts once again, last night with a 3.9 rating/8 share in households in the 10 p.m. hour. Comparably, that tripled competing NBC freshman drama “Reverie” (#3: 1.3/ 2). It beat both “Reverie” and an encore telecast of ABC’s “Shark Tank” (#2: 1.6/ 3) combined by 34 percent. And “Code Black” increased from a repeat of lead-in “SEAL Team” (#1: 2.5/ 4 from 9-10 p.m.) by 56 percent.

In week two news, “Gordon Ramsay’s 24 Hours to Hell and Back” scored a 2.4/ 4 in the household overnights at 9 p.m., which was compatible with the 2.8/ 5 for lead-in “MasterChef” at 8 p.m. Comparably, , “Gordon Ramsay’s 24 Hours to Hell and Back” dropped by 11 percent from the 2.7/ 5 one week earlier.

The only other original entry was the final season of CW drama “The Originals,” which scored a 0.7/ 1 at 9 p.m. (out of a 0.6/ 1 for a repeat of “Supergirl” at 8 p.m.).
