Summer mainstay “Big Brother” topped this third Wednesday in July, lifting CBS to household overnight victory. “Big Brother” scored a 4.1 rating/8 share at 8 p.m., which was 17 percent above the 3.5/ 6 on the year-ago evening, and it led into an also dominant 2.8/ 5 for week two of drama “Salvation” at 9 p.m. Comparably, “Salvation” dipped by 12 percent from the 3.3/ 6 one week earlier, which translated into 4.99 million viewers and a 0.7 rating/3 share in adults 18-49 (based on the Live + Same Day data).

Last week, the three episodes of “Big Brother” finished ranked No. 3 through 5 in adults 18-49.

Also original last night was NBC’s “Little Big Shots: Forever Young” (#2: 3.8/ 7 at 8 p.m.) into a second-place 2.1/ 4 for soon-to-conclude sitcom “The Carmichael Show,” which will be remembered for tackling topical issues. And Fox featured “Masterchef” (#4: 2.5/ 5 at 8 p.m.) into a modest 1.4/ 3 for freshman “The F Word with Gordon Ramsay” at 9 p.m., which continues to prove Ramsay could use a rest.
