Ratings Breakdown:
There was nothing unusual on this quiet summer Wednesday with CBS’ veteran “Big Brother” topping the night at a just a 2.7 rating/5 share in the household overnights at 9 p.m. Despite a loss of 25 percent from the year-ago evening in the Wednesday 8 p.m. hour (3.6/ 6), “Big Brother” still managed to increase by 69 percent from anemic lead-in “Love Island” (#4: 1.6/ 3 at 8 p.m.). Lead-in still matters and “Love Island” has negatively impacted CBS this summer.

Elsewhere, ABC narrowly won the evening with its midweek game show trio: “Press Your Luck” (#2: 2.5/ 5 at 8 p.m.), “Card Sharks” (#2: 2.2/ 4 at 9 p.m.) and “The Match Game” (#1: 2.3/ 5). NBC drama “The InBetween” barely registered with a second place 1.7/ 3 in the household overnights at 10 p.m. “First Responders Live” on Fox (#3: 1.5/ 3 at 9 p.m. dropped by 44 percent from lead-in “Masterchef” (#1: 2.7/ 5 at 8 p.m.).
