Wednesday Freshman Entries Continue to Struggle

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 7, 2018

Household Rating/Share
NBC: 5.3/ 9, CBS: 3.8/ 7, Fox: 3.4/ 6, ABC 3.1/ 5, CW: 0.8/ 1

Percent Change from the Year-Ago Evening:
Note: ABC featured “The CMA Awards” on the year-ago evening.
NBC: +47, CW: no change, Fox: – 6, CBS: – 7, ABC: -62

Ratings Breakdown:
It was another clean household overnight sweep for NBC care of its trio of Chicago-set dramas: “Chicago Med” (5.7 rating/10 share), “Chicago Fire” (5.7/ 9) and “Chicago PD” (4.6/ 9). Comparably, this was 39 percent, on average, above second place CBS’ combination of “Survivor” (4.8/ 8), “SEAL Team” (3.7/ 6) and tired “Criminal Minds” (3.0/ 6), which needs to call it quits this spring. NBC was also up by a considerable 47 percent year to year.

Elsewhere, ABC’s recently renewed “Single Parents” (#4: 2.6/ 4 at 9:30 p.m.) and drama “A Million Little Things” (#3: 2.6/ 5 at 10 p.m.) continue to struggle. Comparably, “Single Parents” slipped by 35 percent from lead-in “Modern Family” (#2: 4.0/ 7 at 9 p.m.).

Earlier in the evening on ABC were sitcoms “The Goldbergs” (#4: 3.5/ 6 at 8 p.m.) and “American Housewife” (#4: 3.2/ 5 at 8:30 p.m.) at typical household overnight levels.

Fox had nothing unusual to report with its pairing of dramas “Empire” (#3: 3.9/ 7) and “Star” (#4: 3.0/ 5). Nor did The CW care of social media magnet “Riverdale” (#5: 1.0/ 2) and recently introduced drama “All American” (#5: 0.6/ 1).
