Wednesday Overnights: ‘The Masked Singer’ Leads Fox to Victory

Ratings Breakdown:
“The Masked Singer” topped the night with a 5.4 rating/ 9 share in the household overnights, which built from lead-in “Gordon Ramsay’s 48 Hours to Hell” (#4: 3.1/ 5) by 74 percent and led Fox to victory. Comparably, “The Masked Singer,” which was just renewed for a second season, was 26 percent above year-ago time period occupant “9-1-1” (4.3/ 7).

On CBS, “Big Brother: Celebrity Edition” remained consistent at a 3.3/ 5 (#3) in the 8 p.m. hour, which was 23 percent below the 4.3/ 7 for “The Amazing Race” on the year-ago evening.

Also on CBS was veteran “Criminal Minds,” which concludes next season, at a 3.4/ 6 (#1) at 10 p.m., which aired out of a repeats of sitcoms “The Big Bang Theory” (#4: 2.6/ 5) and “Young Sheldon” (#3t: 2.4/ 4) from 9-10 p.m.

ABC, meanwhile, had nothing unusual to report with its Wednesday comedies – “The Goldbergs” (#1: 3.8/ 6), recent entry “Schooled” (#3t: 3.1/ 5), “Modern Family” (#2: 3.8/ 6) and “Single Parents” (#3t: 2.4/ 4) – into “The Match Game” (#3: 2.0/ 4 at 10 p.m.). Chances of a second season for “Single Parents” is unlikely.

The CW was also on par with typical Wednesday overnight levels care of “Riverdale” (#5: 1.0/ 2 at 8 p.m.) and “All American” (#5: 0.7/ 1 at 9 p.m.).
