Wednesday Ratings: CBS, NBC and Fox Share Diluted Leadership

CBS and Fox: 0.5 rating/4 share each, ABC and NBC: 0.4/ 3 each, CW: 0.1/ 0

The live “America’s Got Talent” results show on NBC topped the night in total viewers, with 5.48 million in the Wednesday 8 p.m. ET hour. But competing “Big Brother” on CBS (Viewers: #2, 3.63 million) dominated in adults 18-49 with a 0.9 rating/7 share. “AGT” scored a second place 0.6/ 5 in the demo, and it led into recent non-scripted entry “Family Game Fight” (Viewers: #3, 2.09 million; A18-49: #2t, 0.4/ 3 at 9 p.m.).

In week two news, the Eye net’s “House Calls with Dr. Phil” did not benefit airing out of “Big Brother”, with a mere 1.77 million viewers (#4) and a 0.3/ 2 in adults 18-49 (#4) at 9 p.m. That led into a Wednesday 10 p.m. edition of “48 Hours”, which scored 2.16 million viewers (#2) and a 0.3/ 2 in the demo (#1t).

Also airing its second episode was ABC Wednesday 10 p.m. documentary series “Superstar”, which profiled John Ritter last night. It averaged 2.09 million viewers (#3) and a 0.3/ 3 in adults 18-49 (#1) out of the 3.40 million viewers (#1) and 0.4/ 3 in adults 18-49 #2t) for lead-in “The $100,000 Pyramid” at 9 p.m. Earlier in the evening on ABC was game show “Press Your Luck” (Viewers: #3, 3.01 million; A18-49: #3, 0.4/ 3 at 8 p.m.).

Elsewhere, Fox featured a two-hour installment of veteran “Masterchef” (see network averages above). And The CW capped off this final Wednesday in August with cellar-dweller dramas “Riverdale” (Viewers: 520,000; A18-49: 0.1/ 1 at 8 p.m.) and “In the Dark” (Viewers: 336,000; A18-49: 0.0/ 0 at 9 p.m.).
