Wednesday Ratings: Modest ‘ESPY Awards’ on ABC; CBS’ ‘Big Brother’ the Top Draw in Adults 18-49

In the specials department was the annual ESPY Awards on ABC, which celebrates the best in sports. It tied CBS and NBC for a modest first in adults 18-49 (with 2.33 million total viewers overall). See the network averages above.

On CBS, “Big Brother” remains the top program this summer in adults 18-49, this airing at a 0.6 rating/7 share at 8 p.m. But lead-out “The Challenge” dipped to 2.08 million viewers (#3) and a 0.4/ 4 in the demo (#1t) at 9 p.m.

Also original was Fox’s combination of “Masterchef” (Viewers: #4, 2.27 million; A18-49: #2: 0.4/ 5 at 8 p.m.) and “So You Think You Can Dance” (Viewers: #4, 1.47 million; A18-49: #3t, 0.3/ 3 at 9 p.m.); and “Mysteries Decoded” (Viewers: 540,000; 0.1/ 1 at 8 p.m.) and “Wellington Paranormal” (original and repeat) at an average 273,000 and no recorded results in the demo in the Wednesday 9 p.m. ET hour. It does not get much lower than that!

The remainder of the evening were repeat telecasts.
