WEDNESDAY FAST AFFILIATES

Total Viewers:
NBC: 5.99 million, CBS: 3.23, Fox: 3.06, ABC: 2.14, CW: 520,000

Adults 18-49:
NBC: 0.6 rating/5 share, Fox: 0.5/ 4, CBS: 0.4/ 4, ABC: 0.3/ 2, CW: 0.1/ 1

In season premiere news was Fox competition series “So You Think You Can Dance”, which returned after a three years absence with a mere 2.10 million viewers (#4) and a 0.3 rating/3 share in adults 18-49 at 9 p.m. Comparably, that was about half the audience of lead-in “The Masked Singer” (Viewers: #3, 4.01 million; A18-49: #2, 0.7/ 6 at 8 p.m.).

In a night of season finales, ABC’s weakness on Wednesday was visibly weak and there is no reason to expect any improvement next season. Take a look:

ABC/Wednesday
8:00 p.m. “The Goldbergs”
Viewers: 2.72 million (#4), A18-49: 0.4/ 3 (#4)

8:30 p.m. “The Wonder Years”
Viewers: 1.99 million (#4), A18-49: 0.3/ 3 (#4)

9:00 p.m. “The Conners”
Viewers: 2.83 million (#3), A18-49: 0.4/ 3 (#2t)

9:30 p.m. “Home Economics”
Viewers: 1.81 million (#4), A18-49: 0.3/ 2 (#2t)

10:00 p.m. “A Million Little Things”
Viewers: 1.76 million (#3), A18-49: 0.2/ 2 (#2t)

Was there really a need for ABC to renew all five of these shows? And, yes…the network will have to officially deal with Jeff Garlin’s absence on “The Goldbergs” next season.

Also concluding was CBS reality competition series “Beyond The Edge” (Viewers: #2, 2.45 million; A18-49: #3t, 0.3/ 2 at 9 p.m.), which completely squandered the lead-in support from veteran “Survivor” (Viewers: #2, 5.38 million; A18-49: #1 for the night: 0.8/ 7 at 8 p.m.).

Elsewhere, NBC topped the night, as always, with its “Chicago” trio: “Chicago Med” (Viewers: #1, 6.05 million; A18-49: #2, 0.6/ 5 at 8 p.m.), “Chicago Fire” (Viewers: #1 for the night: 6.59 million; A18-49: #1, 0.7/ 5) and “Chicago PD” (Viewers: #1, 5.34 million; A18-49: #1, 0.6/ 5 at 10 p.m.). And The CW featured “The Flash” Viewers: 595,000; A18-49: 0.1/ 1 at 8 p.m.), which will return in midseason in 2022-23, and “Kung Fu” (Viewers: 445,000; A18-49: 0.1/ 1 at 9 p.m.).
