YES Network Scores its 2nd-Most-Viewed Spring Training Telecast Ever

Amidst an era of declining ratings on linear television, one rare bright spot occurred in the New York TV market this past Sunday, Feb. 28: in a sign that sports fans there are hungry for baseball, the YES Network telecast of the spring training game between the Toronto Blue Jays and the New York Yankees from Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida. For both teams, their first game of the 2021 preseason averaged 200,000 total viewers. This mark is YES’ second-most-viewed Spring Training telecast ever (since 2002), surpassed only by the network’s March 10, 2018 Mets-Yankees telecast (242,000 average Total Viewers).
