Carol Burnett to Star in ABC Sitcom

Multi-Camera Comedy Comes From Amy Poehler and Michael Saltzman

Comedy legend Carol Burnett will headline a proposed multi-camera ABC sitcom, still untitled, about a family who gets a chance to buy the house of their dreams — a house they would never be able to afford under normal circumstances, but is able to under extremely abnormal circumstances. They must live with the current owner, an older actress (Burnett) — until she dies.

The project, which has a pilot commitment, comes from executive producers Amy Poehler and Michael Saltzman. Saltzman, whose credits include “Mad Men,” “Murphy Brown” and “Wings,” is writing the script, and he and Poehler are executive producing alongside Brooke Posch, Dave Becky, and Michael Pelmont. Poehler will executive produce through her Paper Kite banner. Universal TV.
