Ratings Breakdown:
NBC towered over the Sunday competition care of the 10-7 victory for the Giants over the Cowboys on “Sunday Night Football,” which scored an estimated 16.5 rating/26 share in the household overnights from 8:30-11:30 p.m. ET. The peak performance was a 16.9/26 in the 9 p.m. hour.

Over at CBS, the delayed start for “60 Minutes” on the East Coast to 7:31 p.m. (due to football) means that all overnight program averages for the network are estimated. “60 Minutes” opened the night with an 8.1/13, followed by the colorized edition of classic “The Dick Van Dyke Show” (5.1/ 8), “Madam Secretary” (5.4/ 8) and “Elementary” (3.4/ 6). Now in season five, there are more than enough episodes in off-network for “Elementary” to potentially conclude this spring.

Elsewhere, a 13.7/23 for an NFL overrun into a 9.7/16 for post-game “The OT” from 7-8 p.m., of course, gave Fox a boost for the evening. But it does not mean the network does not need to revamp its 8-10 p.m. comedy block, which performed as follows:

Fox/Sunday
8:00 p.m. – “The Simpsons”: 3.6/ 6 (#3)
8:30 p.m. – “Son of Zorn”: 1.9/ 3 (#4)
9:00 p.m. – “Family Guy”: 2.0/ 3 (#4)
9:30 p.m. – “The Last Man on Earth”: 1.4/ 2 (#4)

Following veteran “American Funniest Home Videos” at 7 p.m. (#3: 3.1/ 5), ABC populated this second December Sunday with an encore telecast of 2013 theatrical “Frozen” (3.6/ 6 from 8-10 p.m.) and 10 p.m. special “The Making of Frozen: A Return to Arendelle” (#3: 2.2/ 4).
