Television Series Arriving on Netflix, Amazon and Hulu in September 2016

New original and off-network series titles for the month of September will appear on the streaming video services Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hulu.

One of the most anticipated series debuts on streaming this year is “Marvel’s Luke Cage” (Sep. 30) on Netflix. Mike Colter stars in the title role as a man given super strength and durability from a sabotaged experiment. He escapes prison and returns to his Harlem neighborhood not only to clear his name from being wrongly accused but to serve and protect his surroundings with his newfound abilities. The series also stars Mahershala Ali (“The 4400”), Alfre Woodard (“Desperate Housewives”) and Theo Rossi (“Sons of Anarchy”).

Also in September is the second season of Netflix’s critically-acclaimed drama “Narcos” (Sep. 2). Its producers have reportedly vowed to reveal who exactly killed infamous drug kingpin Pablo Escobar.

Amazon makes an aggressive push with original programming during September. Woody Allen ventures into series production for the first time with “Crisis in Six Scenes” (Sep. 30). The show takes place in the 1960’s during turbulent times in the United States when a middle class suburban family is visited by a guest who turns their household completely upside down.

Comedienne Tig Notaro returns to her hometown after the sudden death of her mother in the semi-autobiographical dark comedy “One Mississippi” (Sep. 9).

Award-winning playwright Phoebe Waller-Bridge writes and stars in the six-part comedy “Fleabag” (Sep. 16) as a young woman trying to cope with life in London whilst coming to terms with a recent tragedy.

“Transparent“, Amazon’s most lauded program earning multiple Golden Globe and Emmy awards, especially for its star Jeffrey Tambor, returns for its third season on Sep. 23.

Amazon also has two series for children: the debut of “The Stinky & Dirty Show” (Sep. 2) based on the “I Stink!” book series by Kate and Jim McMullan, and the second season of “Creative Galaxy” (Sep. 9) which follows the adventures of Arty and his sidekick Epiphany, as they search the galaxy to solve creative problems with art.
