Thursday Final Nationals: ‘Pasión y Poder’ Finale Boosts Univision

CBS was the most-watched network in prime time on Thursday with an average of 7.67 million viewers. ESPN dominated in all key demographics due to its telecast of the “2016 NFL Draft” first round; from 8-11:45 p.m., its demo ratings were a 2.65 for adults 18-49, a 2.55 for adults 18-34 and a 2.77 for adults 25-54.

The NFL Draft on both ESPN and NFL Network combined for an average of 8.24 million total viewers and 4.53 million adults 18-49 — a slight decline of 7 percent (in total viewers) and 9 percent (in adults 18-49) from the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft on Apr. 30, 2015 (8.84 million viewers; 4.95 million adults 18-49).

Univision’s No. 1 telenovela of 2016 to-date, “Pasión y Poder” (Passion and Power), rose in the ratings for its grand finale. It reached 5.2 million total viewers who tuned in to all or part of the three-hour broadcast. The telecast averaged 3.1 million total viewers, 1.5 million adults 18-49 and 746,000 adults 18-34, putting Univision ahead of CBS, NBC and Fox among adults 18-34 in prime time. Univision also outperformed NBC and Fox among adults 18-49 on this night.

Additionally, the finale of “Pasión y Poder:”

· Delivered more adults 18-49 than the entire original line-up on FOX (“Bones” and “American Grit”) as well as the first-run episodes of ABC’s “The Catch,” CBS’ “Rush Hour” and NBC’s “Strong” and “Game of Silence.”

· Was the fourth most-watched program on broadcast television with more young Adult 18-34 viewers than the entire original line-ups on NBC (“Strong,” “The Blacklist” and “Game of Silence”) and FOX (“Bones” and “American Grit”) as well as first-run episodes of ABC’s “The Catch” and CBS’ “The Odd Couple,” “Mom,” “2 Broke Girls” and “Rush Hour.”

In its full-run, “Pasión y Poder” averaged 2.3 million Total Viewers 2+, 1.1 million Adults 18-49 and 491,000 young Adults 18-34.
