Ratings Analysis:

Note: The State of the Union Address and analysis aired live across the country from approximately 9-11 p.m. ET. The Address was from 9-10:09 p.m., followed by the analysis. All results on ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox last night are approximate, of course. The CW did not air President Obama’s speech.

CBS opened the night on a winning overnight note care of a repeat of “NCIS” at a 6.5 rating/10 share in households from 8-9 p.m. At the CBS executive session at the Winter Press Tour yesterday, here is what new Entertainment President Glenn Geller had to say about Michael Weatherly’s departure:

“They are working on how Michael’s character is going to be written out, and Gary and the producers are working on that right now. I will definitely miss, as I’m sure the fans will, too, and my mother, very special agent Tony DiNozzo, and his decision was his. It was a creative one. He had been in the role for 13 years, and I completely understand that and wish him well.”

There are no plans, meanwhile, for Cote de Pablo to return.

Also in the Tuesday 8 p.m. hour was “Hollywood Game Night” on NBC (3.1/ 5), followed by Fox sitcoms “New Girl” (2.5/ 4) and “Grandfathered” (2.1/ 3), encore telecasts of ABC’s “Fresh Off the Boat” (2.4/ 4) and “The Muppets” (1.6/ 2), and CW special “Madtv 20th Anniversary Reunion” (1.3/ 2).

Overnight household results for the State of the Union Address are as follows:

9:00 p.m. – NBC: 4.7/ 7, CBS: 4.6/ 7, ABC: 3.5/ 5, Fox: 1.6/ 3
9:30 p.m. – NBC: 4.9/ 7, CBS: 4.6/ 7, ABC: 3.8/ 6, Fox: 1.8/ 3

An original installment of ‘iZombie” on The CW did not benefit minus the entertainment themed competition with a mere 0.8/ 1 from 9-10 p.m.

The 10 p.m. half-hour featured a combination of the State of the Union Address and the analysis as follows:

CBS: 5.1/ 8, ABC: 4.7/ 7, NBC: 4.3/ 7

NBC also featured an analysis in the 10:30 p.m. half-hour, which averaged a 3.2/ 5. And CBS and ABC populated the half-hour with repeats of “Mike & Molly” (2.7/ 5) and “The Goldbergs” (2.0/ 3). At the aforementioned CBS executive session yesterday, Glenn Geller confirmed that this is the final season of “Mike & Molly.”
