2016 MLB Postseason TV Schedule on Fox, FS1, TBS, ESPN and MLB Network

The Chicago Cubs earned MLB’s best regular season record in 2016 with 103 wins-58 losses-1 tie. It was their first season since 1969 the team had never possessed a sub-.500 record for an entire season. The Cubs, who haven’t reached a World Series since 1945 nor have won a World Series since 1908, are the odds-on favorite to win it all this season.

The Cleveland Indians enter the postseason as the American League Central champion for the first time since 2007. Likely American League Manager of the Year Terry Francona will look to have his Indians club overcome a 68-year world championship drought, something he accomplished for the Boston Red Sox (an 86-year drought) as Boston’s manager in 2004. An Indians world title would be a welcome bonus to the city of Cleveland in 2016 which saw its Cavaliers win the NBA championship back in June, breaking a 62-year professional sports championship title drought for the area.

Cleveland’s opponent in the American League Division Series are the A.L. East champion Boston Red Sox, who became the first team in baseball history to ever go from worst-to-first in a division twice within a five-year span. The last time they had finished in first place in the A.L. East was in 2013, the year they would eventually win the World Series.

The Baltimore Orioles reach the American League Wild Card game in their third playoff appearance within the past five seasons, all under manager Buck Showalter. The Orioles had previously not reached the playoffs from 1998-2011.

Returning from last year’s playoffs are the defending National League champion New York Mets, the San Francisco Giants (World Series champions in 2010, 2012, and 2014), the Los Angeles Dodgers (under new manager Dave Roberts), the Toronto Blue Jays (with consecutive playoff appearances for the first time since 1991-93) and the Texas Rangers (earning the American League’s best 2016 regular season record of 95-67).

All games aired on MLB Network, TBS and Fox will be available to MLB.TV subscribers who are authenticated subscribers to the applicable network through a participating pay TV provider. (Cord cutters will be unable to view the MLB postseason via MLB.TV).

The following is the playoff baseball schedule, including dates, start times, TV networks and scheduled announcers (all times Eastern; subject to change):

  1. Thank You for the days and times and networks that the playoffs are on. Too bad the average person that doesn’t have cable or dish’s and have to wait until the World Series to see a ballgame on TV.

  2. no way I’m watching the espn broadcast – have no interest in a choking softball player uttering useless cliches throughout the game

  3. I understand Americans don’t exactly love us Canadians but the announcers of the last 2 games are showing their bias!!! The number of class remarks are uncalled for. Dennis Eckersley if you don’t like the Jays because you hold grudge then you should excuse yourself from announcing all Blue Jays games…I don’t think I heard any of you make any snarky remarks agains the the Rangers. The announcers are tactless and have no class at all

  4. Already suffering through Ernie Johnson, Jr.’s stuffy bumbling and thinly veiled favoritism. How did that guy ever end up screwing up the playoff announcing? Incredibly boring and irritating.

  5. I cannot believe that Fox brought back Harold Reynolds for the Playoffs. He ruins every game that he announces. Heard his voice and went to College football.

  6. I’m from Cleveland and don’t appreciate the picture created with our river burning. Our city has done a hell of a lot in the last 47 years. You couldn’t even get an accurate picture. You had to use a gas line explosion for your back drop of our city. It’s sad that you can’t be unbiased and show your distaste for our city through such negativity on the air. . I personally think you owe our city an on air apology. I’d boycott your station, however as much as I don’t like your commentators, I love our city and our teams 1000 times more.

  7. it is so painful listening to Ernie Johnson and Ron Darling – I feel sorry for Cal and Samantha for having to work with them – don’t you have anyone better?

      • after watching game 5 and hearing feedback from those who have some background on EJ, I’ve concluded Ron Darling is the real weak link. Samantha asks some real good questions rather than the typical “how do you feel”. Cal is there for his player insight, which I thought would be true about Darling, but he seems to struggle trying to decide what his role is. His attempts at jokes are poor. At the ALCS is over and we’ll have better people in the World Series.
