CBS Leads Quiet Wednesday; Sluggish Return for ‘The 100’ on The CW

What follows are the metered market (overnight) results in households by network and by half-hour for Wednesday, February 1, 2017:

-Ratings Breakdown:
CBS led this relatively quiet first Wednesday in February, with veteran “Criminal Minds” topping the evening at a 4.9 rating/8 share in the household overnights at 9 p.m. CBS also dominated the 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. ET hours care of recently introduced reality/competition “Hunted” (3.4/ 6) and sophomore medical drama “Code Black” (4.3/ 8), respectively. As time period filler until “Survivor” returns, “Hunted” is performing admirably.

In season-premiere news, CW drama “The 100” did not impress at a 0.9/ 1 in the household overnights at 9 p.m., which trailed year-ago time period occupant “Supernatural” (1.2/ 2 on 2/03/16) by 25 percent. Comparably, overnight retention for “The 100” out of “Arrow” (#5: 1.4/ 2 at 8 p.m.) was 64 percent.

Second-place NBC featured another Wednesday of all repeats care of two episodes of granddaddy “Law & Order: SVU” (8 p.m.: #1, 3.1/ 5; 9 p.m. #2: 3.0/ 5) and “Chicago PD” (#2: 3.0/ 5).

Elsewhere, Fox continues to feel the absence of “American Idol,” dipping by 43 percent, on average, from the year-ago evening with the pairing of 8 p.m. special “Showtime at the Apollo” (#5: 1.5/ 2) and “Star” (#3: 2.9/ 5). And ABC was in all repeats with its line-up of “The Goldbergs” (#2t: 3.0/ 5), “Speechless” (#2: 3.1/ 5), “Modern Family” (#4: 2.8/ 5), ‘black-ish” (#4: 2.6/ 4) and “The Match Game” (#3: 2.2/ 4). Fasten your seatbelts for Alec Baldwin in his 17th appearance as host of NBC’s Saturday Night Live.” It should be interesting!
