CBS and ABC again split Thursday night honors; CBS led in total viewers (7.39 million) and adults 25-54 (2.2 rating/7 share), while ABC won among adults 18-49 (1.7/6) and adults 18-34 (1.2/6).
Basketball was the main sports attraction on TV on the evening with more viewers tuning into college action on ESPN than the pros on TNT. Another installment of men’s college basketball’s legendary rivalry of “North Carolina-Duke” on ESPN bested TNT’s NBA matchup “Cleveland-Oklahoma City” (LeBron James vs. Russell Westbrook) head-to-head. North Carolina at Duke delivered a total live audience (TV + Streaming) of 3.184 million viewers, marking it as the most-watched weekday college basketball game of the year on any network. The television viewership (averaging 3.081 million viewers for the entire telecast) peaked at 4.068 million people during the final minutes of the second half (9:45 p.m. – 10 p.m.).
