Wednesday Overnights: Respectable Sampling for ‘TKO: Total Knockout’ on CBS

Ratings Breakdown:
The home of “Big Brother,” CBS, topped this second Wednesday in July with a two-tenth (or six percent) household overnight advantage over NBC. “Big Brother” finished second behind an encore telecast of “America’s Got Talent” on NBC, with a 3.8 rating/7 share in the 8 p.m. hour. That will be enough to dominate the time period in adults 18-49 (and all the key demos), and it led into a 2.7/ 5 for the series premiere of action game show “TKO: Total Knock Out,” hosted by Kevin Hart, at 9 p.m. “TKO: Total Knockout” held 75 percent of the 8:30 p.m. portion of “Big Brother” (3.6/ 7), which is positive sampling. Now let’s wait and see what the demos look like.

Note to Kaitlyn on “Big Brother”: You should have remembered what happed to Cody last season when he went against his alliance that early in the season. You goofed.

At 10 p.m. on CBS, and still very much worthy of a renewal, was medical drama “Code Black “ at a dominant 3.9/ 8 in the household overnights. Comparably, that increased by 39 percent from the 9:30 p.m. portion of “TKO: Total Knockout” (2.8/ 5), and it bested competing drama “Reverie” on NBC (1.6/ 3) by a whopping 75 percent.

Also original last night was Fox’s combination of “MasterChef” (2.6/ 5) and “Gordon Ramsay’s 24 Hours to Hell and Back” (#3: 2.3/ 4), which were at typical overnight levels. And another episode of the final season of “The Originals” on The CW scored a 0.6/ 1 in the 9 p.m. hour.
