Six Additional New Series Picked Up by the Broadcast Networks

The latest new series pick-ups for next season are dramas “Riverdale,” based on the “Archie” comic book franchise, “Frequency” and “No Tomorrow” on The CW, “Notorious” on ABC, and the fourth hour in NBC’s Windy City-set franchise, “Chicago Justice.” ABC has also picked-up a sitcom called “Imaginary Mary” with Jenna Elfman, who is 0 for 4 in the new sitcom department since “Dharma & Greg” concluded in 2002. Think “Courting Alex,” “Accidentally on Purpose,” “1600 Penn” and “Growing Up Fisher.” NBC is first up among the broadcast networks to unveil its programming plans for next season. It announces on Monday, and The CW is last on Thursday morning.

DRAMA

“CHICAGO JUSTICE” (NBC)
Powerhouse creator Dick Wolf delivers a captivating new installment to the hit Chicago franchise. Just like their brethren in the Chicago P.D., the State’s Attorney’s dedicated team of prosecutors and investigators navigates heated city politics and controversy head-on while fearlessly pursuing justice. As they take on the city’s high stakes and often media-frenzied cases, they must balance public opinion, power struggles within the system and their unwavering passion for the law. It all starts with a gut-wrenching case when one of Chicago’s finest is shot in the line of duty.

The cast includes Philip Winchester, Carl Weathers, Nazneen Contractor, Joelle Carter and Ryan-James Hatanaka.

“FREQUENCY” (The CW)
In this reimagining of the New Line Cinema film, a female police detective in 2016 discovers she is able to speak via a ham radio with her estranged father (also a detective) who died in 1996. They forge a new relationship while working together on an unresolved murder case, but unintended consequences of the ‘butterfly effect’ wreak havoc in the present day. (Deadline.com)

NOTORIOUS
Inspired by the true-life stories of famed criminal defense attorney Mark Geragos and cable news producer Wendy Walker, who serve as executive producers, “Notorious” is a provocative look at the unique, sexy, and dangerous interplay of criminal law and the media. Berman co-wrote the project with Allie Hagan.

Piper Perabo, Daniel Sunjata, Sepideh Moafi, Kate Jennings Grant, Ryan Guzman, Kevin Zegers, J. August Richards and Aimee Teegarden star in the series, exec produced by Berman, Michael Engler, Kenny Meiselas, Jeff Kwatinetz and Josh Barry. Hagan is co-executive producer. “IMAGINARY MARY”
A fiercely independent career woman (Jenna Elfman) finds her life turned upside-down when she meets the love of her life – a divorced father with three kids. This triggers even more upheaval when the slightly unhinged imaginary friend she created as a child suddenly reappears to help her navigate the transition from single girl to a woman ready for a family.

Elfman stars alongside Stephen Schneider, Rachel Dratch as Mary (VO), Nicholas Coombe, Matreya Scarrwener and Erica Trembay.
