ABC has picked up “The Big Sky,” a thriller based on C.J. Box’s Cassie Dewell novel series, which will be produced by David E. Kelley. The logline: Described as a procedural thriller, private detective Cassie Dewell partners with ex-cop Jenny Hoyt on a search for two sisters who have been kidnapped by a truck driver on a remote highway in Montana. But when they discover that these are not the only girls who have disappeared in the area, they must race against the clock to stop the killer before another woman is taken.
The series, which is written and produced by Kelley, comes from A+E Studios in association with 20th Television. Along with Kelley, Ross Fineman and Box will executive produce.
This will be Kelley’s first network television series since “Boston Legal,” which concluded in 2008.
