‘ALF’ Actor Michu Meszaros Dies at 76

Michu Meszaros, the actor who played “ALF” in the first season of the 1986-90 NBC sitcom, died Sunday night at the age of 76 after complications from a stroke last Thursday. Michu, who stood 33 inches tall, wore a full-body suit to portray the alien wiseguy when scenes called for him to walk around.

Meszaros was born in Hungary and joined Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus in 1973. He performed for U.S. presidents Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan and became friends with Michael Jackson after Jackson saw him performing. He guest-starred in TV series like series “Dear John” and “H.R. Pufnstuf,” and had small roles in movies such as “Look Who’s Talking” and “Big Top Pee-wee.”
