Christopher Meloni to Reprise His ‘SVU’ Role in New ‘Law & Order’ Spin-Off

Thirteen Episodes Ordered

NBC has ordered 13 episodes of a new untitled “Law & Order” series, which will feature Christopher Meloni reprising his long-running role as Elliot Stabler on “Law & Order: SVU.” The new series will follow Stabler, back out of retirement, as he takes the lead of the organized crime division of the NYPD. This marks the first show to come out of the new five-year multi-platform deal “Law & Order” creator and producer Wolf inked with Universal Television in March.

Meloni originated the role on “Law & Order: SVU” at its inception on Sept. 20, 1999 and exited the series after 12 seasons in 2011. He also appeared in the role in an episode of short-lived “Law & Order: Trial By Jury” in 2005 and in two episodes of “Law & Order” in 2000.
