  2. How ’bout dem Cowboys? LOL!

Amazing win for my Lions and Matthew Stafford, people got to see that final drive right after the Cowboys game inside of that 7pm hour on FOX.

Zorn looks like like a bust already out of the gate. I DVR’ed Miss America 2017 and will watch it later today but it pisses me off how that competition always airs the same night as the start of the football season. I wish they would move it away from football, it was actually better when it was on Saturday nights in January for those few years.

    • Zorn just did not appeal to me in any shape, form, or fashion. Maybe I am getting too old for anything that out of the box.

      • I don’t think I would’ve enjoyed it even if I was a kid it just looked that bad and horrid and didn’t need to be made. Not sure why FOX even thought it was appropriate to bring something like that to primetime broadcast television.

              • Oh yeah New Girl was the biggest comedy hit in the world beating M*A*S*H’s all-time 106 million viewer rating. FOX had a bigger hit comedy than The Simpsons, Family Guy, Married with Children, and That’s 70s Show on its hand. LOL!

                • I’ll have you know that today 1.06 million viewers is much better than 106 million way back whenever… The population has shrunk so much since then that you have to keep things in perspective… 😉

      • It’s not “out of the box”, it’s fake-edgy. It’s the kind of “concept” that appeals to TV executives because they get to say they made a “daring choice” when in fact they ordered another brain-dead show from one of their talent-deprived buddies.

        • All true but it’s definitely out of the box in a bad way though and fake-edgy. Just a stupid show that I don’t plan on paying any attention to, it better not get renewed.

          • You make a great point.

We are in an era where “incompetent” can be safely substituted for “edgy” (witness Mr. Robot and its “directing” with 1/3 of the top frame empty and actors facing the wrong way or all the shakycam shows).

            • Yeah there’s way too much of that going on in TV right now. Those cable shows aint all of that either like people are saying. It’s definitely not limited to just broadcast show right now it’s an overall suckage factor going on with these shows. Just make a simple show with simple production! Why do I have to feel nausea while watching a show and why have comedies over the past 10-15 looked like movies instead of theater plays? What’s hard about that?

              • To me this is the great mystery of Hollywood.

Over 15 years ago, the default setting was quality and even bad directors managed to produce something watchable even if they weren’t particularly gifted.

At that time, I didn’t like sitcoms because I found them wanting in visual storytelling (with exceptions like Family Ties which was as creative visually as sitcoms got).

Same thing with acting. You rarely saw outright bad actors (especially as leads) and the worst you cold expect was actors with lots of charisma but only so-so chops.

Today, you’re lucky to get a lead with so-so chops.

Same for photography (now the default setting is video), music (default setting samplers and rhythm box) and writing (default setting Plot Holes ‘R Us).

                How did it happen?

Was it the studios buying the networks? Was it the industry becoming more and more inbred? Was it ageism achieving victory in Hollywood managers’ thinking?

All of the above and more?

It’s just baffling that quality that used to be achieved effortlessly now is hard to come by (and when it does it’s attacked as old-fashioned – but then again incompetence is in fashion sadly).

    • Matt Stafford would have crewed Williams a new one for not going out of bounds as he did with WR even know timeouts in the pocket that was one thrilling game. I’m excited in 6 days Lions finally have Cheerleaders on the sideline been saying for years the Lions needed Cheerleaders.

      • I really like how Stafford took charge in this game and showed leadership getting on the players for not going out of bounds or continuing the play wasting precious seconds off the clock. It shows to me that Stafford is finally growing up and maturing with his age and it may help the Lions win games that they didn’t in the past because he was still immature in the past. I’m glad you mentioned the cheerleaders because I can’t wait for them also I’ve actually seen them on the site and they look beautiful and their tops are good too, didn’t see the bottoms though. Lions definitely have been needing cheerleaders for years and they play in a dome so it’s perfect, we haven’t had them since we opened up the Silverdome in 1975 so its been 40 years and overdue. Can’t wait to see them on CBS on the sidelines this Sunday as it was so naked without them.

Also I like our black jerseys we just announced today but we’re changing our uniforms again next season.
