Eddie Murphy Reprises His Iconic Characters in ‘SNL’ Return

Saturday Night Live” closed out its 2010’s decade on a highly memorable note when legendary comedian and actor Eddie Murphy — an SNL alum from 1980-84 — hosted the show for the first time in 35 years. Murphy brought back four of his iconic characters from the show: Mr. Robinson’s Neighborhood, Buckwheat, Gumby and Velvet Jones.

Murphy also appeared in three Christmas skits; one of which featured a parody on Food Network’s “Holiday Baking Championship” where he mistakenly uttered the “s”-word.

Singer/rapper Lizzo was the episode’s musical guest.

Making guest appearances during the episode were: Alec Baldwin, Larry David, Jason Sudeikis, Maya Rudolph, Fred Armisen, Rachel Dratch, Tracy Morgan, Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle.
