Friday Final Nationals: ‘Superstore’ Olympic Episode on NBC Ranks as TV’s Most-Watched Friday Comedy Telecast in 12 Years

From NBC Sports Group (full press release): For Friday’s primetime coverage, NBC Olympics’ Total Audience Delivery — calculating average minute viewing across broadcast, cable, and digital — had an average of 21.1 million viewers with an 12.3 household rating. The night was down 6 percent in viewership and down 7 percent in household rating from the second competition Friday in London 2012 (22.5 million viewers/13.2 household rating on August 10, 2012) when it had aired solely on NBC.

The special Friday, Aug. 19 primetime “Superstore” averaged 9.7 million viewers – not only the series’ best ratings performance to-date but also ranking as the most-watched Friday comedy telecast on any network since 2004.

The show scored the highest 18-49 rating for a Friday scripted telecast on any network since Feb. 23, 2007 (3.0 for CBS’s “Numbers”), and was the highest-rated Friday comedy telecast on any network since 2005 in 18-49, with ABC’s “Hope & Faith” (3.0 in 18-49 on Jan. 14, 2005) and since 2004 in total viewers, also with “Hope & Faith” (10.829 million viewers overall on Feb. 6, 2004).
