FX has greenlit a fifth season of drama “Fargo” from Noah Hawley, which owes its roots to the 1996 film of the same name. The new edition will be set in 2019, with no specific details or casting announced at press time.

“Noah Hawley is a masterful storyteller who has successfully created four wholly original seasons of one of the most brilliant series on television,” said Michael Wright, President of Scripted Television at MGM. “We cannot wait to see his vision for season five come to life with our partners at FX.”

The most recent season, which aired in 2020, starred Chris Rock, Jessie Buckley, Jason Schwartzman, Ben Whishaw and Jack Huston, and was set primarily in Kansas City, Missouri from 1950 to 1951.
