Geoff Erwin Livestreams Benefit Concert for First Responders Children’s Foundation

In his first virtual fundraising event for The First Responder’s Children’s Foundation, which helps the children of the First Responders who lost their lives in the line of duty, comedian, actor, director and singer Geoff Erwin offered a potpourri of songs from his first album in an effort to, as he said, “give back.”

First responders range from paramedics, emergency medical technicians, police officers and firefighters to employees directly supporting police and fire departments such as 911 dispatchers. And they have been on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic in every community across the country.

“I’ve been working on a folk pop album over the last six months,” said Erwin, who executive produced the live performance event and sang live with the track of each song playing in the backdrop. “We were heading into Final Mixing right when the Covid pandemic hit.”

Erwin premiered several songs from his original album, including the “What’s Right,” “Miracle,” and “True Love,” and one new entry, “Rearrange,” at the virtual benefit concert showcasing various different backdrops (including a sunset, the sky and respondents working during the Pandemic). Erwin has a twangy-type singing style comparable to some of the legendary country stars, including Elvis Presley, Kenny Rogers and Glen Campbell. He has the look and personality of someone you would want to hang out with. And he comes across as someone who simply wants to give back to his community.

“I heard a story on NPR’s ‘This American Life,’ where an EMT in New York had to handle 13 Covid-related Cardiac Arrests in one 16-hour shift. All of them passed. I can’t imagine what that must be like,” he said. “This guy’s out there risking his life every day, gearing up for each and every case he sees, and what am I doing? That’s when I realized how much I wanted to put together a benefit concert.”

“This is our chance to really make a difference to the people on the front lines during this Pandemic,” he added. ‘I intend to raise a mountain of money to make a massive difference for those who are risking their lives to save ours.”
