Hollywood Actors Who Love a Flutter

Celebrities have hobbies just like everyone else and there are plenty of Hollywood actors who like to have a flutter. Whether it be at a land-based casino, at the racetrack, or backing your favorite sports team at Apex Betting Sites from home, there are several actors who gamble in their free time.

Ben Affleck is a good example, and the actor has appeared in over 50 films. However, Affleck is known also for his film writing and he won the Golden Globe and the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for Good Will Hunting in 1997. The film Argo was another major success for Affleck, who directed, co-produced, and starred in the movie. Argo won Affleck numerous awards, including the Golden Globe Award and BAFTA for Best Director plus the Golden Globe Award, BAFTA, and Academy Award for Best Picture. Despite his enormous success in Hollywood, Affleck still has time for a flutter and poker is his game of choice. Affleck has made appearances at some major poker events over the years and has participated at both amateur and professional levels. Some reports say Affleck has won over $1 million playing poker, which is a tremendous achievement.

Tobey Maguire, who is best known for his role in the superhero trilogy Spider-man and jockey John M. “Red” Pollard in Seabiscuit, likes a game of poker. In 2012, Maguire set up his own production company called Material Pictures and produced and starred as Bobby Fischer in Pawn Sacrifice two years later. Outside of his work, Maguire is known as a good poker player, and he started playing in 2004. Having been tutored by poker professional Daniel Negreanu, Maguire has played in television poker events, including the World Series of Poker Main Event Championship featured on ESPN. In the mid-2000’s, Maguire participated in Molly Bloom’s high-stake poker games at The Viper Room along with several other celebrities, but his behaviour was brought into question following a tournament win.

One of the Hollywood actors who participated in the poker games at the Viper Room is George Clooney. He is not as well known for his poker playing as the two men highlighted above but it was rumoured Clooney decided to build his own casino in Las Vegas, only for the plans to be abandoned at the planning stage. It was the casino games played at the Viper Room, involving the likes of Cooney and Maguire, that were the inspiration for the movie, Molly’s Game.

Clooney has starred in the Oceans movie franchise along with Brad Pitt, who is another Hollywood actor who enjoys a flutter. Like the actors highlighted above, Pitt is known for playing poker but also likes blackjack and slots. There are even rumours he participates in online gambling, with slots being his game of choice. Sticking with the Oceans films and Matt Damon is another famous actor who likes playing poker and blackjack. Damon has played poker at professional level and started the game having received tuition from Johnny Chan for his role in Rounders.
