Shock-jock Howard Stern, a judge on “America’s Got” on from seasons 7 to 10, has weighed in on Gabrielle Union’s sudden announced departure. Speaking today on his SiriusXM show, Stern points the finger of blame to Simon Cowell, stating: “He sets it up that the men stay no matter how ugly [the men] are, no matter how old they are, no matter how fat they are, no matter how talentless they are.
“He further alleged that Cowell “replaces the hot chicks with hotter chicks and younger chicks.”
News of Union’s (and Julianne Hough’s) departure alleged that Union was subject to various racially-motivated criticisms, including over her many hairstyle changes, which were perceived as “too black” for “America’s Got Talent” core demographic. Union, who complained of an insensitive joke made by guest Jay Leno, reportedly received that critique more than half a dozen times. Julianna Hough, meanwhile, was also reportedly criticized about her appearance.
It has yet to be announced who will replace Hough and Union for the upcoming season. Given the current circumstances, what female personality would even want it now?
