Leslie Jones Exits ‘SNL’

The Emmy Nominated Performer Enjoyed a Five Season Run on the Veteran Weekend Late Night Staple

NBC’s veteran “Saturday Night Live” will open season 45 next month without Emmy nominated Leslie Jones. After five seasons, Jones opted to exit “SNL” to focus on her current career outside of late night, which will include upcoming indie films “I Am Maurice” with Chris Rock and “Queenpins” with Kristen Bell.  Jones is currently filming the “Coming to America” sequel “Coming 2 America” and will also headline her first comedy special for Netflix in 2020 and host and executive produce a reboot of game show “Supermarket Sweep.”

“SNL” is also losing its longest running cast member in the show’s history, Kenan Thompson, who is headlining upcoming new NBC sitcom “The Kenan Show.”
