Date: Aug 14–22, 2021

Start Time: 11 a.m ET

Preview:

It is an important part of the US Open series, owing to its Masters 1000 status on the ATP tour and Premier 5 event on the WTA circuit.

The tournament has been played in Cincinnati, Ohio every year and attracted a lot of quality players from both halves. However, in 2020, it was decided to shift the Western & Southern Open to New York and for it to be played in the lead-up to the US Open as a part of the same bio-secure bubble.

It remains to be seen if changes would be made to the 2021 edition of the tournament as well.

The tournament was started in 1899, which makes this oldest tennis tournament in the United States that is still played in its original city.

For men, it is a part of the ATP Masters 1000 series while for the ladies, it is a Premier 5 event on the WTA tour. The event is attended by some of the most prominent names on both circuits.

But it is quite disappointing for the tennis fans that three of the top tennis stars Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, and Rafael Nadal aren’t going to participate in the tournament. After a loss in the Tokyo Olympics and not getting any model, Novak Djokovic has decided to skip this tournament and prepare himself for the upcoming USA open. But World No. 2, Daniil Medvedev will now enlighten the field with Stefanos Tsitsipas and many others.
