‘Lucifer’ Star Tom Ellis Signs Deal to Return for Season 6

The Upcoming Fifth Season Will Be Broken Out in Two 8-Episode Parts

The renewal from Netflix is not official yet. But Tom Ellis has signed a deal to to return in the lead role on “Lucifer.” The series initially aired on Fox from 2016 to 2018 and was revived by Netflix in 2019. The upcoming 16-episode third season will be broken out into two 8-episode parts.

Earlier this year, Netflix began talks with series producer Warner Bros. TV about another installment of the comic book drama beyond the upcoming fifth season, which had been billed as a final installment. Executive producers Ildy Modrovich and Joe Henderson, who have been steering the show, also closed new deals for another season.

“Lucifer” is based on the D.C. Comics character taken from the comic book series “The Sandman,” who later became the protagonist of a spin-off comic book series. The drama is produced by Jerry Bruckheimer Television, DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Television.
