What follows are the metered market (overnight) results in households for Monday, October 15 by network and by half-hours:
Household Rating/Share
ABC: 5.3/ 9, NBC: 4.7/ 8, CBS and Fox: 3.6/ 6 each, CW: 0.8/ 1
Percent Change from the Year-Ago Evening:
Fox: +200, CBS: + 3, NBC: – 4, ABC: -23, CW: -27
-Ratings Breakdown:
ABC opened this holiday week in the overnight driver’s seat care of the season finale of “Dancing With the Stars,” which scored a 5.6 rating/9 share in households from 8-10 p.m. ET. Comparably, this bested “The Voice” on NBC (5.2/ 8) by eight percent, but “The Voice” will certainly dominate in adults 18-49 and all the key demo groups. This was also 20 percent below the year-ago fall season ender (7.0/11 on 11/20/17). Needless to say, Bobby Bones was a surprise winner.
There is no word, meanwhile, if “Dancing With the Stars” will return for a spring edition. As it stands, ABC is now concentrating on the return of “American Idol.”
Elsewhere, it was Monday overnight business as usual. My personal favorite, Marilu Henner, was guest-starred in the Thanksgiving episode of CBS sitcom “The Neighborhood” (#3: 4.5/ 7 at 8 p.m.), and that led into a 3.1/ 5 for sure-to-be cancelled “Happy Together” at 8:30 p.m. (#4). The “Magnum, P.I.” reboot perked up to a 3.7/ 6 in the household overnights in the 9 p.m. hour, but the skew will likely remain considerably older. And the Eye network capped off the evening with a repeat of “Bull” at 10 p.m. (#3).
ABC’s diluted “The Good Doctor” won the 10 p.m. hour, with a 4.7/ 9 in households. Comparably, this was 28 percent below the 6.5/11 on the year-ago evening. Next was “Manifest” on NBC at a 3.8/ 7 at 10 p.m., which slipped by 24 percent from the 9:30 p.m. portion of “The Voice” (5.0/ 8).
