Monday Ratings: ‘9-1-1’ Leads Fox to Adult 18-49 Victory

The CW Relocated 'All American' and 'Black Lightning' Left at the Starting Gate

What follows are the fast affiliate ratingss for Monday, October 7, 2019. These results are time period based and are subject to change:

Total Viewers:
NBC: 7.14 million, ABC: 6.14, CBS: 5.55, Fox: 5.46, CW: 913,000

Adults 18-49:
Fox: 1.3 rating/5 share, NBC: 1.2/ 6, ABC: 0.8/ 4, CBS: 0.7/ 3, CW: 0.3/ 1

Key Observations:

-Fox drama “9-1-1,” the definition of an unsung hero, led the network to a Monday 18-49 demo victory. Just renewed lead-out “Prodigal Son,” however, did not benefit from the support.

-The three other Monday newbies — Bob Hearts Abishola” and “All Rise” on CBS and “Bluff City Law” on NBC – continue to struggle to find an audience in this era of “Peak TV” and increased digital consumption.

-NBC’s “The Voice” continues to beat competing “Dancing With the Stars” on ABC by significant proportions.

-There is no way to spin these Nielsen ratings for the season premiere episodes of CW dramas “All American” and “Black Lightening.” As always, it is social media that matters for the network.

-CBS’ fourth-place finish in adults 18-49 is, no doubt, a concern.

  1. Ouch at All American.
The best thing you can say about BHA is that is has quite good retention out of The Neighborhood.
911 is impressive, even beating The Voice in the demo.
I am thinking Bluff City Law may be the first casualty of the season?

  2. FROM THE CW
Even though L+SD is a smaller and smaller portion of The CW’s overall audience, and we are seeing tons of delayed viewing in L+7 and streaming, the sophomore season of ALL AMERICAN is off to a great start.

The Season 2 premiere of ALL AMERICAN high-stepped to its HIGHEST ever total viewer number and its largest A18-49 numbers since November 28, 2018.

Versus last year’s series premiere, ALL AMERICAN is up 35% in total viewers and 50% in A18-49.

ALL AMERICAN improved over last year’s finale in both viewers (+72%, 0.926mil vs 0.685mil) and A18-49 (+50%, 0.3 vs 0.2).

    ALL AMERICAN averaged a 0.3/2 in A18-34 and 0.3/1 in A18-49.

ALL AMERICAN showed increases in all key demos versus its series premiere.

BLACK LIGHTNING improved 7% over last year’s finale in viewers (0.9mil vs 0.845mil) and 50% in A18-49 (0.3 vs 0.2).

For ALL AMERICAN please note that last year’s series premiere saw an increase from LSD to L7 of 54% in total viewers and a 63% increase in A18-49.

For BLACK LIGHTNING. please note that last year’s series premiere saw an increase from LSD to L7 of 79% in total viewers and an 86% increase in A18-49

Our DC shows typically see gains of high double digits (if not triple digits) in L7 in all demos and are among our most viewed shows on our streaming platform.
